Hashim Farooq
Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, CattleOS
Hashim Farooq is the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of CattleOS, an AI platform that lets ranch and feedlot crews record cattle work by voice and turns it into the records, costs and reports an operation runs on. He leads product and engineering, including Cooper, the CattleOS voice assistant built to work offline in the field.
Hashim grew up in rural Manitoba with a 4-H background and a father who worked as an agronomist. Before CattleOS he worked at Cargill, where he saw the cattle industry's record-keeping problems firsthand, and with the Government of Manitoba. He has built agricultural software for Alberta Grains, Manitoba Crop Alliance and programs across Western Canada.
Before writing a line of CattleOS code, Hashim and co-founder Pavan Balani interviewed more than 200 agricultural producers. The finding that shaped the company: most cow-calf operations do not use any cattle software at all. They use notebooks, whiteboards and memory. CattleOS was built to fit that reality.
Hashim is also the founder of Bytesavy Technologies, a custom software firm serving agriculture and energy clients, and the developer of CanMade, a barcode-scanning app that shows whether grocery products are made in Canada. CanMade reached the top 10 lifestyle apps in the Canadian App Store. He holds a BSc in Computer Science from Brandon University (2024) and is a speaker at Manitoba Ag Days 2027.
